B I O G R A P H Y 

               Hillary Heckard was born and raised in Northern California. She attended the University of Oregon in 2004 and received her Bachelor of Art degree in Cultural Anthropology with a minor in Ethnomusicology in 2008. She went on to receive a  Bachelor of Fine Art degree with a focus in glass at the University of Hawaii at Manoa in 2012. Throughout her enrollment, Heckard was the UH Manoa glass Color Technician. She also worked for Tiki Glass, and Island Glass Works in Kailua, Hawaii alongside Geoff Lee. She was awarded the Outstanding Glass Student Scholarship and the Laila Twigg-Smith Art Fund Scholarship to attend courses at Pilchuck Glass School in Stanwood, Washington in 2012.  Heckard would go on to receive the Traveling Assistantship position at the Chrysler Museum of Art in Norfolk, Virginia in 2013. In this position she helped educate the community through classes and daily public demonstrations. She also assisted various visiting artists and educators. Additionally, she was also a teaching Assistant for glass courses at Old Dominion University, Virginia Wesleyan College and Tide Water Community College.

                Heckard moved back to California in 2014 to work for Glassybaby as a production glassblower and on the weekends would teach courses at Public Glass in San Francisco and Art Escape in Sonoma. In 2016, she was given a full tuition scholarship to attend Alfred University as an MFA student. Here she taught two Liberal Art glass classes and was a teaching assistant for two other glass courses. Heckard received her Master of Fine Art degree in Sculpture Dimensional studies in 2018. She has exhibited in the US and internationally at the following institutions: the University of Hawai'i at Manoa Art Gallery, Commons Gallery, 'Iolani Gallery, The Arts at Marks Garage, The Glass Furnace, Chrysler Museum of Art Perry Glass Studio, Portsmouth Museum, D' Art Center, The Charles H. Taylor Art Center, Suffolk Art Gallery, Heller Gallery, The Belfry, Manifest Gallery, LACDA Los Angeles Center for Digital Arts, Turner Gallery, Gallery 1060, Switzer Gallery, CICA Museum, and the Las Lagunas Gallery in Laguna Beach California. Currently, Heckard is an independent artist, designer, and educator who works and lives in both the U.S. and Italy.
